OUTREACH COMMITTEE
37 Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee, or thirsty and give thee drink? 38 And when did we see thee a stranger and welcome thee, or naked and clothe thee? 39 And when did we see thee sick or in prison and visit thee?' 40 And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.' -- Matthew 25:37-40
This committee focuses our energies and time toward reaching out to the community around us. This year, we have four quarterly projects planned. We plan to raise money to help: 1) The Healing Eagle Clinic of the Mataponi Indians, 2) The Mathews Fire Department, 3) The Gloucester-Mathews Free Clinic, and 4) Hands Across Mathews. We will also do an extra giving to the Peninsula Adult Literacy Program.
Our four planned programs for 2011 will be:
1) March 6 -- Pancake Dinner with "Pickin', Eatin', and Grinnin'" at 6:30 p.m. We will

have Pancakes, Sausage, Bacon, Coffee, etc. and then a "Hee-Haw" inspired

entertainment. A love offering will be collected for the Healing Eagle Clinic.
2) June 5 -- Countywide CHURCH PICNIC on the grounds of Locust Grove UMC.

1:00 p.m. "COVERED DISH" picnic. Locust Grove will provide meat and drinks.

Everyone bring your favorite Picnic Dish to share. At 3:00 p.m. we will have a

special service to bless our Volunteer Fire Department. Musical groups have been

invited to perform.

Bring your family, your friends, and your lawn chairs. We are inviting the Mathews

Volunteer Fire Department to be present. We will take up an offering for the

Mathews V.F.D.

3) July 17 -- A Pig Picking and Hawaiian Luau at 5:00 p.m.

We will start games and music at 5:00 p.m. and will eat at

6:00 p.m. We will (hopefully) have a roast pig and all of delicious

sides for this Hawaiian Feast. We will take up a love offering for

the Gloucester-Mathews Free Clinic.
4) October 23 -- 7th ANNUAL CHILI COOK-OFF at 6:30 p.m.. Everyone is

encouraged to enter your favorite chili for competition. Everyone is also invited to

come on out and taste some of the most unique and interesting chilis. We will take

up a love offering for Hands Across Mathews!
ALL OF THESE ACTIVITIES are FREE. We do ask that you would consider bringing a loving offering for these organizations that help the people of our community.
